Prevailing Wage

In a statement by Reid and Pelosi, the Democrats attack the Bush administration for eliminating the requirements of the prevailing wage to be in effect for rebuilding in NO. The entire statement is pretty funny:
http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=54312

"Instead of paying the prevailing wage, which is standard for the region, they have waived that requirement so contractors can pay a lower wage. Poverty was central to some of the tragedy, and instead of alleviating poverty, this Administration, by Presidential decree, has said they can pay a lower wage to these workers to rebuild the area."

We should describe to people what the prevailing wage is and how much people make when they work for the government vs. how much they would make in the private sector. How many people would sympathize with the dems then? Talk about cronyism...

Air America Radio

Remember all of the media attention AAR got when it was first coming out? I remember seeing stories in all of the major papers. It looks like now they are asking their listeners for donations to support their businesses. Apparently the free market couldn't support them so they have to appeal to people's altruism. I heard about this and Googled the story to see the coverage:

There are only a few news outlets mentioning this: about.com, NewsMax, FoxNews, WorldNetDailey, and a few obscure local papers. Coverage was similar when they borrowed money from some Boyscouts or something crazy like that. Pretty amazing.

Next Houe Majority Leader??

Drudge is reporting that a conspiracy charge is likely going to make it through the grand jury. Republican rule's would force Delay to step down as Majority leader if that were to happen. I guess my real question is when is the party Purn? All jokes aside is there any idea at who the other candidates for the position would be?

Question asked. What would your answer be?

I recently recieved the following from my brother but have not yet had a chance to answer. I know Brad would want to take a hit at the education part.

I will sure to point out that his sources are probably biased. Take in mind the fact that his school is like Western (hippies everywhere)(sounds terrible)

As a person who is relatively unware of the current politics and what they do well I have found my self at a lost. I have a brother who says Bush is great and I got to a school who say he sucks. So I have decided to start researching political areas of interest to me to determine what is really going on. Those areas include education, the environment, and the economy. So far I have explored education and the environment. My conclusion is he sucks. As far as the environment goes he is quickly undoing many things that took so long to create. He is striping the funding and making new regulations that will allow corperations to more easily spread harmful (untested or limited tested) chemicals through out the environment. The "no child left behind" sounded great on paper but is failing, infact it is actually making it imposible for schools who have been struggeling to get back on tract. I have yet to speak to a public school educator who fully supports it. They either hate it or just admit to having a fear for what it will bring in the future.
So my question to you is why is the bush administration good for this country?
Before you get all upset you should know that I think Kerry was worse. I am just asking for some credible information so I can defend the guy against some of these people. So far I am not finding it. I would love to here about something positive he has done for the environment.

Look forward to your comments.

New Blog

I have started a new blog also on blogspot.com. This is going to be the public one that we have been kicking around for awhile. To maintain a seperation, I am not going to publish the name here but will send an email out to everyone (hope I have everyone's email correct) with the information.

Please continue to post on this one and also on the public one. Let's try to maintain this blog as a way to communicate with each other and the next one as more of a way to get discussions started. Colvin and I have a few thoughts on what some projects we could work on....

More on that later.

New blog name

Hey guys-
Still on the beach for me livin it up!
Colvin and I were discussing the new blog we were considering. Does anyone have ideas for a good name? We were thinking something that we always joke about, like BlametheRich or big oil, or something that plays off of Atlas Shrugged (John Galt for President).

Let's try to get a discussion on a good name.

What do think?

What do you guys think about the upcoming Senate election in Penn. between Robert Casey, Jr (D) and Rick Santorum (R)? It is a bold move on there part to run someone who is anti-abortion and pro-gun. Do you think it will work or will it back fire like their newly professed religious devotion? (Fewer people see Democrats as friendly to religion now than felt that way a year ago, according to a poll released Tuesday by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press)
